Producers trying to sell meat directly to consumers say they are struggling to access processing facilities, with supermarkets and exporters dominating abattoir services.

A meat industry body says the numbers of sheep and cattle being processed are relatively stable and there are no issues with farmers getting access to slaughter for their livestock.
