Our Vision

As a community, we are rethinking the future of agriculture

The state of our landscapes, of human health, and farm profitability demonstrate that we can’t continue on our current trajectory.

Agriculture is facing the dramatic consequences of biodiversity loss, soil degradation and resource scarcity. Farm profits are declining even with improved efficiencies, exacerbated by the impacts of a changing climate. Family farm businesses are under pressure as the cost of land and inputs continue to rise. The health of our growing population will be dependent on our ability to produce nutritious food.

We believe in a future for agriculture where farmers, landscapes and communities thrive together.

Agriculture has the power to regenerate and restore nature, and provide real climate solutions, whilst generating positive returns for farmers and communities. Our sector is already innovating – using mixed species crops and pastures, low-till systems, managed livestock grazing, new technologies and business models, and integrating nature in profitable agricultural enterprises.

With the right frameworks in place, we can accelerate this transition.

Emerging environmental markets provide an avenue to recognise the hard work of regeneration and diversify farm income. Discerning consumers increasingly want to know more about where their ingredients have come from and whether they’ve been grown in a way that enhances nature and nutritional value, presenting an opportunity for value creation in the supply chain.

Wilmot Field Day unites the agriculture sector to share and gather knowledge, exploring ideas and practices to enhance agricultural production in a way that benefits farmers, the community and the landscape.
